Do I have to come in person?
We offer therapy:
- in person in Camberwell, Victoria
- via video call
- over the phone, or
- we can travel to you (depending on your location) for a small fee - whatever works best for you.
How do we start?
If you are interested in counselling with me, you can book online, or send me an email or SMS and I will contact you for an introductory, free-of-charge call to make sure that we are a good fit and that my services are appropriate for your needs.
Are my sessions confidential?
During your initial session you will be provided with information regarding your rights and our policies in relation to privacy and confidentiality. Generally, information provided by clients to a therapist remains confidential, unless we believe there is a risk to safety - yours or someone else's. If we need to discuss your situation with someone, we will discuss it with you first if this is possible.
What qualifications do you have?
I have a Bachelor of Social Work (including Accredited Mental Health Social Worker credential).
I am a qualified EMDR therapist and a full member of EMDRAA.
I'm also a Tuning In To Kids facilitator.
What is your cancellation policy?
All cancellations require a minimum of 24 hours notice.
Cancellations that occur within 24 hours of your scheduled appointment will incur a cost of 50% of the scheduled appointment.
If you do not attend your appointment without notice, you will be charged the full cost of your scheduled appointment.
How do I make a complaint?
Social work services provided by Syzygy Wellbeing intend to provide a beneficial and respectful service at all times. Activities will be undertaken regularly to invite feedback from you to ensure the service being provided meets your needs and any issues are addressed as soon as possible, before they escalate to a complaint.
You are encouraged to communicate openly about any concerns about the service and any areas you would like adjustments.
Should you wish to make a complaint, it will be handled positively and promptly. In the first instance, if you feel comfortable to do so, you can raise the issue directly with us in person or in writing. We will work with you to resolve the complaint to your satisfaction within two weeks.
We will also keep records of the process and provide written feedback regarding actions and outcome.
Given therapeutic work is underpinned by a strong relationship, this direct process is strongly encouraged as a first step, in order to keep the therapeutic relationship open and respectful, and adjust the work to best meet your needs and address misunderstandings. However we recognise that this can be difficult to do. If you do not feel comfortable raising the issue with us directly, you are able to make a complaint to the Australian Association of Social Workers Ethics Office via email or via telephone 03 9320 1000.
What rebates do you offer?
With a Mental Health Care Plan from a GP, you can access Medicare rebates of $85.20 per session for 10 sessions per calendar year.
Some health funds pay rebates for Social Work Services under 'extras'. Please check your fund and cover level before making an appointment.
